Former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister Joseph Yammin has vowed to ensure leading NPP member; Dr. Kwaku Duah is dealt with according to law for making statements he believes could be detrimental to the security of the the country as Ghana heads for an election.
He is reported to have said on Kumasi based Boss FM that the government was busy sewing military uniforms in South Africa for NDC party men to wear and wreak havoc on the citizenry during the elections.
The former Deputy Ashanti regional minister who was not happy with the statement then called into the programme to express disappointment at the host for looking on for a guest to make allegations which were inimical to the security of the nation and insisted the Police pick Dr. Duah up to find out what evidence he had. The station promised to go to the Police station and make a report after the show.
Dr. Duah however tells rawgist.com some men who were in plain clothes and claimed to be National Security operatives attempted to arrest him later in the day but were resisted because their identities could not be established. He says he later went to the Kumasi Central Police Station where the Police said they were not aware of the said statement and had not sent anyone to arrest him. He however tells rawgist.com he suspects Hon. Yammin sent his friends to arrest him.
Joseph Yammin however says he will ensure the matter is pursued to its legal conclusion since it holds serious security implications for the state. He adds that “it was the same show that reported NDC’s Robert Owusu on his cutlass stockpiling comments. So if Robert makes threatening statement and can be arrested, why should the doctor be sitting free?”
