Yendi – Concerned individual fights hospital over death of a fourteen year old girl
A citizen of Yendi, Mr. Abukari Is-haq Motariga has single handedly initiated steps to fight for a fourteen year old girl Abena Nankola who was allegedly neglected to die at the Yendi Municipal hospital on Thursday 18th March 2021.
In a petition sighted by Sagani TV, Mr. Motariga narrates how he witnessed the alleged neglect by staff of the hospital which according to him resulted in the death of the young girl.
The family of Abena, in an interaction with Sagani TV at Kpachani, a farming community in the Yendi municipality, narrated how Abena was sent to the hospital from the community which is about fifteen kilometers away from Yendi around 2:15am that faithful night and the ordeal they went through at the hospital which led to the death of the little girl at around 9:30am without a any medical officer attending to her.
The petitioner and the family are calling on the government and authorities in the municipality to investigate this matter and ensure that people found culpable are brought to book.
The medical superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Abdulai Seidu Ayuba, acknowledged receipt of the petition and mentioned that a committee has been set to investigate the matter.
He however insisted that whilst they wait for the reports of the committee, certain allegations in the petition are not factual but mere attempts by the petitioner and some other individuals within the hospital to create hatred in the public against the management of the hospital for their personal benefits.
He questioned how a patient who was sent through all the necessary procedures at the hospital and was even offered some medication by the nurse on duty at the emergency ward be said to have been neglected.
He therefore called on the general public especially citizens of Yendi to appreciate the sacrifice the hospital staff are making instead of trying to paint them black before the world when little unfortunate incidents happened.
