YFM Kumasi’s Kwame Poku (DJ Scientific) is set to be the first Ghanaian radio DJ to drop the scorching latest single from Afrobeats artiste/producer Silvastone.
Skatta (Remix) features legendary Jamaican dancehall artiste Chaka Demus. It is the third official release taken from the artistes much loved multi-genre hybrid EP; Transitions.
The Kumasi based entertainment radio don will be dropping the hot song at 8PM Thursday on the Y-lounge, YFM’s top entertainment show in Kumasi.
The nostalgic sounding SKATTA is a modern throwback that creatively pays homage to a particular golden-era of dancehall music that very heavily influenced Silvastone‘s interest in making music.
The song is being played mainly in the UK, but DJs in Uganda,Kenya and Gambia are also spinning it. BBC1 Xtra’s Dj Edu has it as no.2 on his chart.
In this hit song, Chaka Demus aptly steps up and sweetly blesses the riddim that is easily reminiscent of the music that soundtracked his massive 90s hits alongside his recording partner Pliers.
Following inclusion on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “Hot For 2015” list Silvastone’s year has gone from strength to strength every month.
He has featured on every major Afrobeats event in UK this year including performing at Wembley Arena, toured the UK, headlined his own gigs, playlisted on numerous other networks, etc
He is also booked for several festivals this summer including Glastonbury and travelling to East Africa in July to work on a major Coca-Cola project alongside the cream of pan- African music talent.
Chaka Demus and Pliers continue to be a dominant brand in reggae circles with hits that continue to ring-off on radio and clubs worldwide.
The legendary dancehall veterans are currently touring the world and will be doing several shows in the UK end of May when they will also be assisting in the promotion of Skatta (REMIX).
