The Kumasi Racecourse Traders relocated from Kumasi Central Market are blaming the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi for the rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.
They explain that he has not stood firm on his decision to relocate most of the central market traders to the vacant Racecourse market; a situation they say has created congestion and has made social distancing impossible.
Speaking to Joana Somiah, the traders claim the overcrowded Kumasi Central Market has led to the rapid spread of the pandemic.
They say they will all move to the Central Market to join their colleagues and further compound the overcrowding situation if the KMA does nothing to rectify the situation.
Ashanti Region has recorded 5,259 cases of COVID-19, with 4786 recoveries.
