Your contracts will be terminated if work is not complete-GetFund cautions contractors

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) Secretariat has given an ultimatum to contractors working on government projects to get them completed within the six months.

The Administrator of the Fund in a letter sighted by the Ghanaian Observer newspaper and copied to the Ministry of Education, Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies(MMDAs) said it has paid all contractors working on projects related to these outfits.

The outfit also noted that contractors whose monies have not been paid has been because issues on their certificates of awards have not been resolved.

Government, the secretariat noted has fulfilled part of its obligation and urged that contractors finish off their contracts and deliver same to the authorities involved.

CAUTION:
The Secretariat notifies all contractors to visit their sites and complete all ongoing or commenced projects.

Contractors who have for six months failed to visit their sites, the secretariat  intimated risk losing their monies and contract.

It affirms that projects that have been stalled for 6months will be terminated if the contractors involved did so without any just cause.

Clause 59.2(g) of the GETFUND Act gives the secretariat power to terminate contracts that have not been honoured for six months.

NOTIFICATIONS:
The secretariat has meanwhile notified  all Regional Ministers and supervising  consultants  of their intended action.

Government assisted institutions have also been notified.

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives(MMDCEs) have also been informed by the Secretariat of the directive.
