Sunyani based rapper; Kooko is marking his turf as far as musical entertainment is concerned. He tells rawgist.com‘s Bernard Buachi that he is King of BA (Brong Ahafo).
The Od3 and Obiaa to hit maker says he has carefully honed his craft despite several difficulties he continues to go through to become one of the best.
He has become one entertainer that has endeared himself to residents of the Brong Ahafo. He says that people turn up for shows whenever he is involved. Kooko explains that people refuse to attend shows held in the BA that excludes him. He cited several shows last year to buttress his point.
“Patoranking was here for a show. They charged exorbitantly. They did not want to pay me to join them because they underestimated my influence here. The event flopped miserably. In a similar vein, Bisa Kdei‘s show clashed with mine at Brekum. We wanted to combine the show so it will be one big show but, he declined. He underestimated my weight here. That show also flopped with less than five people attending. A similar thing happened with MzVee and others. However, When Tinny, Kabum and co came for their show, they recognized me and roped me in though I was not on the bill officially. Many people turned up for the show and it was a mammoth success”, he explained.
Kwame Nana Gyabaa as he is known outside showbiz continues to soldier on with his music without a producer; a situation he says has made things very difficult for him.
He however advises event organizers and musicians who plan shows in the Brong Ahafo to “give to Caesar what is due Caesar”, explaining that the people love him and he puts in a lot to continue to endear himself to the people.
