Some youth at the Amenfi East constituency are protesting the removal of their member of parliament, as substantive minister of local government and rural development.
Mr. Oppong Ofosu, was last week replaced by Julius Debrah in President Mahama’s latest string of reshuffles.
The former minister at the local government ministry has since not been assigned any position in government.
The youth say the president has dealt unfairly with the western region as it now has only one representation among ministers of state.
They also contend the party’s fortunes at recapturing the Amanfi East parliamentary seat in 2016 could be hurt by the development.
They thus want President Mahama to reassign the minister who they say is their only hope.
One of the demonstrators, Moses Kwame Gyatuah in an interview with rawgist.com praised the minister’s competence and the help he offered residents of the constituency.
